According to WB Games and Rocksteady Studios (via Arkhamverse), PlayStation 4 buyers of this June’s blockbuster video game Batman: Arkham Knight will not only be receiving exclusive “Scarecrow Nightmare Missions,” but they’ll also be receiving a couple of very special in-game items to brighten up the game’s Dark Knight. First, PS4 owners of the game will be able to outfit the model of Batman himself in a costume ripped directly from the episodes of the 1966 television series, starring Adam West as the titular Caped Crusader. The costume looks very faithful to the tight spandex outfit worn by West on all three seasons of the original television series, and seems delightfully out of place in the gritty, hard-hitting walls of Gotham that will be featured in the full Arkham Knight game.
In addition to the costume inspired by the show, there will also be a “skin” included for the in-game model of the Batmobile. While this won’t change the shape of the massive behemoth of the car as it appears in Arkham Knight, it’ll add some red highlights and accenting that will give it a decidedly “Batman ’66” flavor. See the picture of the PlayStation exclusive content below:
This isn’t the first time that the Adam West incarnation of Batman has invaded the Arkham games. The image at the top of this article is actually from a similar skin offering for the PS3 release of 2013’s Batman: Arkham Origins, and was also featured in the “Deluxe Edition” remaster of Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate.
While Xbox One and PC owners of the game may be a little disappointed to hear that these items will be hitting PS4 only, the image above does specify that this is a “timed exclusive,” meaning that after a few months, it will likely show up in the Xbox and PC marketplaces for the game. Still, if you’re a fan of the “Pow! Zap! WHAM!” era of the “bright knight,” then this should at least bring a smile to your face.
Batman: Arkham Knight will be released on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC on June 23rd. For more on the game as it develops, keep it locked on GeekNation!
