‘A Very Murray Christmas’: Bill Murray Sings Christmas Carols to an Empty Room

By November 17, 2015

It looks like Christmas is going to be coming a little bit early this year thanks to Netflix.

The streaming service is set to bring us their very own, Bill Murray-hosted Christmas special in just a few short weeks called A Very Murray Christmas. If that wasn’t enough to make you excited already too, the special is also directed by Sofia Coppola, reuniting herself with the star for the first time since their work together on the superb Lost in Translation, and is also packed to the brim with recognizable faces including Amy Poehler, Michael Cera, Jason Schwartzmann, George Clooney, Maya Rudolph, Rashida Jones, Miley Cyrus, and more.

A new trailer for the special debuted online just recently, and for those of you out there who actually liked Monument’s Men – this special has no love for you. Check it out below:

After an already spectacular debut teaser, and a poster that was basically the definition of perfect, I was already planning on checking this one out. All this trailer really does is promise me more of what I was already looking forward to, which is Bill Murray running around a hotel on Christmas night, being his perfectly hilarious self, surrounded by an ensemble of other incredibly talented people.

The special itself is a little bit of a departure in tone and style from Sofia Coppola’s other work too, but she looks like she’s bringing her usual techniques and tone to it in a way that makes me think A Very Murray Christmas is going to be just as heartwarming and melancholy as it will be funny and entertaining. I can’t wait.

A Very Murray Christmas is set to premiere on Netflix on December 4th.
