Adrianne Palicki Suits Up For ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’

Last time Adrianne Palicki donned a costume, it wasn’t too well received: her version of Wonder Woman wasn’t picked up to series, and fans weren’t thrilled with the show’s take on the iconic costume. But it’s looking like Marvel’s taking a chance on the “Friday Night Lights” and “Supernatural” star, because she’ll suit up to play Bobbi Morse/Mockingbird in ABC’s hit series “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.”

THR reports Palicki will join a season already filled with some well-known name guest stars including Kyle MacLachlan (“Twin Peaks”) as Skye’s father, Lucy Lawless (“Xena”) as S.H.I.E.L.D. vet Isabelle Hartly, Reed Diamond (“Franklin & Bash”) as Hydra member Daniel Whitehall/Kraken, and more.

But first, a brief history – courtesy of Marvel wiki:

Barbara Morse/Mockingbird was a S.H.I.E.L.D. agent whose assignments made her an ally of the jungle lord Ka-Zar. She subsequently used the costumed identity of the Huntress and later Mockingbird to expose the corrupt activities of certain S.H.I.E.L.D agents. After being injured in her work she received a commendation by then S.H.I.E.L.D. Director Nick Fury, who used her information to expose dozens of subversives within S.H.I.E.L.D. Resigning from S.H.I.E.L.D., Mockingbird was hired to investigate Cross Technological Enterprises (CTE), where she clashed with security director Hawkeye. The two soon discovered that CTE was working for the criminal Crossfire helping to implement his plans to brainwash super heroes into killing each other off. The two joined forces against Crossfire and his underlings, becoming attracted to each other in the process. At the case’s successful conclusion, Mockingbird proposed to Hawkeye and the two married. When Hawkeye was appointed head of the West Coast branch of the Avengers, Mockingbird became the team’s first new recruit and was instrumental in helping Hawkeye form the new team.

Adrianne Palicki

This will be Palicki’s THIRD time taking on a comic book-to-television adaptation (the first being the aforementioned Wonder Woman in David E. Kelley’s NBC pilot, and the second being her role as “Nadia” in WB’s failed “Aquaman” pilot), so she better get it right this time or as they say in baseball, she’s OUT!

(Just kidding.)

Palicki is the right fit appearance-wise, and she can handle a gun (as evidenced by her work as Lady Jaye in G.I. Joe: Retaliation), but we’ll have to see how she flies when she joins the agents in episode 5 of the upcoming season. “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” returns to TV September 23rd, 2014 on ABC.
