With production on the highly-anticipated Alien: Covenant - the second film in director Ridley Scott’s Prometheus prequel trilogy to Alien – now underway, we certainly haven’t been hurting when it comes to set photos or images from the film by any means, following the the release of the first official image from the film’s set, as well as some more, unofficial images teasing what looks like a fairly terrifying scene.

Now, the first look at Katherine Waterston’s character, Daniels, the captain/lead explorer of the Covenant crew has been revealed, and it could just be me reading far too much into it, but I’m getting some serious Ripley vibes from this image alone.

Check it out below:

The film’s cast also includes a returning Michael Fassbender as David the Android, Billy Crudup, Danny McBride, Demian Bichir, Carmen Ejogo, and more, and follows a crew of explorers who happen upon a seemingly uncharted planet that they believe to be paradise, with only one living inhabitant, David, the last living survivor for the failed Prometheus exhibition. It’s only until too late that the Covenant crew realizes their paradise may hide untold, terrifying secrets as well.

After emerging as one of the most talented and charismatic actresses in the industry over the past few years, in her work in both Inherent Vice and Steve Jobs alone, it’s not hard to see why Waterston was cast as the strong female lead of the film. With Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them only set to introduce her to an even larger audience and demographic as well later this year, she’s already become one of the most promising aspects of Alien: Covenant, following Ridley Scott’s divisive and polarizing Prometheus in 2012.

Alien: Covenant is set to hit theatres on August 4th, 2017.
