AMC is home to some very engaging original programming. From the recently concluded “Mad Men” to the acclaimed “Breaking Bad,” they’re starting to understand that fans and viewers want more from their core franchises. They’re already giving us another, different look at the world of Heisenberg with “Better Call Saul,” and now they’re getting ready to premiere a new spin-off based on perhaps their most widely popular series.
“Fear the Walking Dead” will be focusing on new characters in a different part of the country than the one being explored by Rick and company in the main “Walking Dead” series, and the newest teaser seems to hint at the arrival of the zombie outbreak as a surprise and shock when it starts to spread across different states. See the new teaser below.
Characterized as more of a “family drama” by an executive producer when compared to the main series, the show will center on the two main characters who are forced to come together due to the virus that befalls the world. It will also, of course, include enough zombie action to rival its main counterpart, as the show’s first teaser hinted at. More details are expected to be revealed by AMC at Comic Con International in San Diego, as AMC will feature a single panel for both the main “Walking Dead” series and this spin-off to ramp up interest in their upcoming respective runs.
“Fear the Walking Dead” will star Kim Dickens as Madison, a high school guidance counselor and main protagonist, Cliff Curtis as Travis, Madison’s fiance, Frank Dillane as Nick, Madison’s college dropout son, and Alycia Debnam-Carey as Alicia, Madison’s straight-A student daughter. The first episode will premiere on AMC this August, and will consist of six episodes. It’s already been picked up for a second season.
