One of the most interesting TV projects in development right now, which began production just a few weeks ago, is Starz’ upcoming series adaptation of Neil Gaiman’s beloved American Gods novel, with Bryan Fuller (Hannibal, Pushing Daisies) and Michael Green serving as showrunners on the series. In case you’ve been missing from the news over the past few months as well, to put it simply, the cast that has been assembled for the series so far has been nothing short of incredible.

It looks like the series’ ensemble just got even better too, with Fuller set to reunite with one of his Hannibal cast members for the new adaptation.

Variety is reporting that Gillian Anderson (The X-Files, Hannibal, The Fall) has joined the cast of the new series as Media, the mouthpiece for the New Gods, who acts as their public face and sales representative, feeding off the attention that people pay to their screens, including their phones, computers, tablets, TVs, and more. The character is described as always being in control, ready to spin any story in a direction that suits her.

She joins the already cast Ian McShane, Ricky Whittle, Emily Browning, Crispin Glover, Yetide Badaki, Peter Stormare, Jonathan Trucker, Bruce Langley, and more. David Slade is set to direct the pilot episode of the series as well as additional episodes also.

Anderson is, at this point, a TV legend in her own right, after her work on shows like the previously mentioned Hannibal, X-Files, The Fall, and more. She seems to always be one of the most reliable actresses in the industry right now, and she isn’t the first actress eager to reunite with Fuller over the years either. With the talent involved behind-the-scenes though, and the calibre of actors that have been assembled in front of the camera as well, I think it’s safe to say that American Gods is shaping up to be one of the most promising new TV series of next year.

American Gods is set to premiere on Starz in 2017.
