Amy Schumer and Jennifer Lawrence Are Reportedly Making a Movie Together

By August 26, 2015

Jennifer Lawrence and Amy Schumer have become two of the biggest stars in the entertainment industry. Lawrence has made a name for herself as one of the best and most versatile dramatic actresses working today, with a down-to-earth personality that it seems like everyone in the world loves. Meanwhile, Schumer has recieved critical and popular attention over the past few years for her dry humor, and sarcastic comedy that has made her one of the most vocal and beloved comedic voices in the world right now.

So it’s pretty easy to understand why the two actresses managed to blow a lot of peoples’ minds on social media when several photos of them on vacation together popped up online. Rumors began to swirl about whether or not the two might be working on a project together, or if it was just two friends hanging out. Well, it looks like it’s become a little bit of both.

Lawrence recently revealed in an interview with the New York Times that herself and Schumer are currently writing a movie together, in which the two actresses play sisters. Check out her full quote below:

“We play sisters. We’re almost done writing. It just flowed out of us. We’ve got about 100 pages right now.”

Lawrence went on to reveal that after the two met, they became fast friends, which quickly led to this creative collaboration together:

“Amy and I were creatively made for each other. We have different flavors. It’s been the most fun experience of my life. We start the day off on the phone, laughing. And then we send each other pages. And we crack up. I’m flying out tomorrow to see her in Chicago. We’ll write a little bit with her sister, Kim, who worked with Amy when she was writing Trainwreck.”

This is interesting because while Schumer has become known for her smart writing, this marks the first project where Lawrence has had any credited work on the script. It’s easy to see how the two actresses’ personalities might work well together onscreen as well, and it’ll be interesting to see how the film actually ends up turning out. That is, assuming of course that the film does get made, but it’s hard to imagine any studio executive in Hollywood turning down a project starring these two actresses.

With Lawrence possibly entering into the awards conversation once again later this year with David O. Russell’s Joy, and Schumer at the height of her career currently, this project might just be coming at the perfect time for both actresses. Schumer hasn’t made a bad project yet though, so I’m interested to see just how well this ends up fitting in with her past work.
