‘Ant-Man’ May Meet These MCU Characters in the New Movie

Edgar Wright’s Ant-Man will always be one of those “what if” scenarios to cinephiles who remember that he was first attached to the project, but the majority of people who see the movie will have no clue about the behind-the-scenes drama and will judge it solely on what emerges as the final product. So what elements of the script may still be included in the eventual movie, directed by Peyton Reed?

Well, Latino-Review‘s source tells them (spoiler alert, obviously) that an early draft of the script included a scene in which Hank Pym (Michael Douglas) meets Howard Stark, Peggy Carter, Arnim Zola, and a young version of Alexander Pierce (Robert Redford’s character in Captain America: The Winter Soldier). The outlet speculates that the scene could still end up in the movie, but frankly, it sounds like they don’t have any solid basis for that assumption other than the whispers that part of the reason Wright left the project was because Marvel wanted to include more things that tied the Marvel Cinematic Universe together.

Alexander Pierce

But if this was an early draft of the script, doesn’t it mean that Wright and co-writer Joe Cornish were the ones who wrote this meeting with the agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. in the first place? If Marvel wasn’t satisfied with that, do they want this scene and others in which more MCU characters are seen or referenced, or would they rather excise this sequence altogether and replace it with another version of the meeting or an entirely different set of characters? There are too many questions to answer right now, but keep in mind that with “Agent Carter” gearing up on ABC, it’s possible that they could get Hank Pym to meet up with these characters on the show instead of in this film. It sounds like Marvel wants to utilize Alexander Pierce as a young man, so we can probably expect him to be a recurring character in “Agent Carter” at the very least.
