Bad Robot Releases ‘Star Wars’/Batman Crossover Video

By September 18, 2014

You may have noticed that Zack Snyder’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and the folks at J.J. Abrams’ Bad Robot have been going back and forth on Twitter lately creating weird mashups of the major properties that both guys have been working on. Snyder started it by tweeting a photo of Henry Cavill dressed as Superman dressed as a Jedi (complete with a lightsaber), and Star Wars: Episode VII star John Boyega tweeted a picture of himself in a Batman costume holding a Star Wars blaster. Snyder followed that up with a pic of Batman and R2-D2 in the desert, and Bad Robot got into the mix with a photo of C-3P0 as the Caped Crusader. Snyder then kept things going with a picture of a Storm Trooper being arrested after an attempt to steal the newly-unveiled Batmobile, and now Bad Robot has kicked things to a whole new level.

The production company released a video on YouTube called “HUNKA JUNK” that shows some sweeping shots of the outside of the Millennium Falcon, but as the music changes, it zooms in underneath to show a part of the ship we’ve never seen before. Check it out:

Yep, that’d be the Batmobile. With all of the talk surrounding Batman’s latest ride over the past few days, it’s no surprise that Bad Robot would take that as a starting point for their latest entry in this weird, nerdy back-and-forth with a rival studio. I’ve already written about why it’s unlikely that Snyder is trying to do this to score a gig directing a Star Wars movie, so I guess this is just friendly nonsense to keep the fans interested in both movies as production continues (as if fans needed any further convincing).

What do you think about this video? Think the Batmobile will actually show up in Star Wars: Episode VII like this? We’ll have to zoom in super close to find out, but I’m guessing someone will check as soon as the movie hits Blu-ray/DVD sometime in 2016.
