‘Batman v Superman’ Getting Two New Solo Trailers?

By September 28, 2015

Promotion for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice has been surprisingly low key over the past few months, following the huge trailer that debuted at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con, most of the news about the film has come in the form of images or comments from the cast and crew. However, as it is with almost every tentpole blockbuster project nowadays, fans can likely expect some new footage from the film sometime within the next few month, and almost certainly before the end of the year.

With recent rumors regarding some new alterations to the film’s story though, fans have begun to wonder if the movie will still be the same as the one that reportedly gained a standing ovation a few months ago, or what has been recently marketed in the trailers and images. Will two of the biggest superheroes onscreen together work as well as we’re hoping it will, or will one overshadow the other?

Well, according to a new report by Heroic Hollywood, it looks like audiences can expect two new trailers for the film much sooner than they might have expected. The report states that Warner Bros. will be releasing two new, one-minute long trailers from the movie on Monday, October 26th, with one trailer focusing solely on Henry Cavill’s Superman, and the other completely on Ben Affleck’s Batman. The Superman trailer will apparently play during the premiere of Supergirl on CBS, while the Batman trailer will premiere during that same night’s episode of Gotham on FOX.

The report also says that the next full-length trailer for the movie will premiere before Creed, Spectre, or The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2, but nothing has been made official.

All of this should be taken with a large grain of salt, as nothing has been confirmed yet, but it does seem to run along the same lines as some of the previous promotional spots and images that have been released so far, with DC and WB promoting the two heroes as almost two completely different sides of the film. Premiering the trailers during episodes of two DC TV shows as well could help to lure in more viewers, and is something reminiscent of the strategies Marvel has been implementing over the past few years.

It seems like Warner Bros. is actually doing a fairly good job at promoting the film so far, and has managed to avoid a large number of spoilers from leaking out online. Hopefully WB and DC manage to trust the opinions of the fans and keep the film the way that best suits the story and quality, instead of playing to demographics and merchandise sales. At this point, the thought of seeing Batman and Superman onscreen isn’t enough anymore – we need it to happen in a good movie too.

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is set to hit theatres on March 25th, 2016.
