Bill Murray Gets Festive in New Artwork For ‘A Very Murray Christmas’

By November 9, 2015

Netflix already had me when I heard that they would be making a Christmas special hosted by Bill Murray. Christmas is my favorite Holiday, and Bill Murray is one of the greatest men to ever walk the face of this Earth (that’s a proven fact – you can look it up), so I really didn’t need much convincing once I heard about this project. However, when I found out that A Very Murray Christmas would also be the reunion of Bill Murray and director Sofia Coppola since their stunning work together in Lost in Translation (one of my all time favorite movies), it seemed like Christmas would be coming more than a few weeks early for me, and this is easily what I’m most looking forward to this December…

Okay, there’s a little space movie called Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens that would actually take that spot, but this is a close second!

Anywho, after the debut of the special’s first trailer a few weeks ago, Netflix has released some new artwork for A Very Murray Christmas, and it features Bill Murray wearing a Santa Hat. Enough said.

a-very-murray-christmas-posterHere’s the special’s official synopsis:

“Written by Mitch Glazer, Bill Murray and Sofia Coppola, and directed by Sofia Coppola, A Very Murray Christmas is an homage to the classic variety show featuring Bill Murray playing himself, as he worries no one will show up to his TV show due to a terrible snow storm in New York City. Through luck and perseverance, guests arrive at the Carlyle hotel to help him; dancing and singing in holiday spirit.”

Oh man I love this. I love this more than words can probably describe. It seems perfect too, that this special is coming when it is, after Murray has been on a recent downstreak in my opinion, of only playing different versions of himself onscreen. Luckily for A Very Murray Christmas though, he’s supposed to be playing himself, and his ability to combine that melancholy demeanor with absolutely outrageous humor should make for one entertaining, and spot-on Christmas special. So yeah, in case it wasn’t already obvious enough, I know what I’ll be doing on December 4th, that’s for sure, and it involves a little more than my usual gallon of eggnog and gingerbread cookies.

A Very Murray Christmas will debut on Netflix on December 4th.
