Anytime Bruce Campbell is cast in a film or television show, it’s good news, but the news of his addition to the second season of the FX series “Fargo” is made even better when you hear who the Evil Dead star is playing.
TV Line reports Campbell will be playing Ronald Reagan, but during the time that the politician was campaigning to become the President of the United States. Since this second season of “Fargo” takes place in the late 1970s, set against “the cultural transformation that was going on at that time,” Reagan will be making a campaign stop through the small town of Fargo.
Campbell won’t just be shaking hands with some of the residents of Fargo (though he will interact with some of the characters), because apparently scenes from some of Reagan’s movies will also be seen in the show, and we presume Campbell will be reenacting those scenes as Reagan.
This could mark a little bit of a reunion for Campbell since be previously starred on “Burn Notice” with Jeffrey Donovan, and the latter actor has a recurring role in “Fargo” this season as well. So, maybe Campbell’s Reagan will interact with Donovan’s character Dodd Gerhardt.
For those who don’t remember, here’s the official synopsis for the second season:
The all new “true crime” case of “Fargo’s” new chapter travels back to 1979 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota and Luverne, Minnesota, where a young State Police Officer Lou Solverson (Patricl Wilson), recently back from Vietnam, investigates a case involving a local crime gang and a major Mob syndicate. Helping him piece things together is his father-in-law, Sheriff Hank Larsson (Ted Danson). The investigation will lead them to a colorful cast of characters that includes Karl Weathers (Nick Offerman), the town lawyer of Luverne, Minnesota. A Korean War vet, Karl is a flowery drunk blessed with the gift of gab and the eloquence of a true con artist.
Other members of the cast include Kieran Culkin, Jean Smart, Kirsten Dunsts, Jesse Plemons, Brad Garrett and many more. This promises to be another memorable visit to Fargo on FX, and another fun television appearance for Campbell, who also has his own “Ash vs. Evil Dead” series coming up on Starz. Stay tuned for any other Campbell shenanigans.
