Calling All Comedy Fans! Louis C.K. & Albert Brooks Teaming Up For New FX Pilot

By January 5, 2016

Finally, my comedy dreams have come true.

Albert Brooks is without a doubt one of the most important, if not niche, voices in the comedy industry. Making some of the most cerebral and insightful comedies of all time in my opinion, he’s taken a break from writing and directing over the past few years, with his last non-acting credit going to Looking For Comedy in the Muslim world over ten years ago at this point.

However, while he’s still staying out of the director’s seat for the time being, it looks like he’s on the verge of bringing us a new FX series he has co-written with one of the most enigmatic voices in the comedy world today.

According to new report from Deadline, Brooks will serve as co-creator, co-writer, and executive producer on a new animated series with Louis C.K., along with the two autuers providing the lead voices for the series as well. While plot details on the series are still unknown, this will mark Brooks and C.K.’s second official “collaboration” together following this year’s The Secret Life of Pets, although it’s unlikely that the two worked together all that much on the new animated film considering how voice acting is usually recorded.

This will also mark Brooks’ first time creating a TV show in his illustrious career, after beginning with his work on Saturday Night Live before transitioning over into the film industry. While he’s mostly been focused on his acting roles the past few years too, a new writing collaboration with a comedian like C.K. could help bring him back into the creator’s chair. Here’s to hoping.

Honestly, this sounds like the most perfect kind of collaboration that we could ever hope to see. Both C.K. and Brooks have made a name for themselves in the comedy world, with both using their own insecurities and beliefs about life to fuel their underlying themes and messages in each project they put out. Brooks with films like Modern Romance and Defending Your Life, and C.K. with the FX hit show Louie. So I can only imagine what a project with their combined voices is going to be like, but I know that I already can’t wait to see it.
