‘Childrens Hospital’ Star Lake Bell Will Direct ‘The Emperor’s Children’

By August 27, 2014

“Childrens Hospital” star Lake Bell made quite a splash last year with her directorial debut, In A World (which Bell wrote and won awards for in acting and writing), now she’s taking on a book to film adaptation of Claire Messud’s “The Emperor’s Children.”

According to THR, Bell will direct a script penned by Noah Baumbach (The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou, The Fantastic Mr. Fox) that follows “the liberal intellectual elite of New York, telling the tale of three entitled but unsuccessful late twentysomethings who orbit the life of a famous journalist in the months before and after the events of 9/11 [as] two people’s entrance into this circle threatens an upheaval.”

Brian Grazer and Erica Huggins will produce through their company (Imagine Entertainment) but now the question, is who will star? When Noah Baumbach himself was still attached to direct, Keira Knightley, Eric Bana, and Richard Gere were slated as its stars; now that Bell’s taken over, will the cast stay the same or will we see some major changes?

Has anyone actually read this book? If you have, PLEASE clue me in and let me know if it’s worth putting on my radar!
