‘Chuck’ Star Zachary Levi Joining NBC’s ‘Heroes Reborn’ Miniseries Revival

By January 16, 2015

It’s been nearly a year since we heard that NBC was going to revive their once thriving series “Heroes” in the form of a new miniseries called “Heroes Reborn,” but since then there haven’t been any big updates on the project. But that changes today.

During the NBC panel at the Television Critics Association gathering today, the network announced that “Chuck” star Zachary Levi would return to The Peacock with a starring, undisclosed role in “Heroes Reborn.” So as of now, it’s not clear if he’ll be playing a hero or villain.

Levi has a solid history at NBC since his spy comedy series “Chuck” ran for five seasons, and gathered quite the fanbase. In addition, he’s gotten into superhero action on the big screen as Fandral in Thor: The Dark World (though there’s no word on whether or not he’ll return for Thor: Ragnarok).

Levi also happens to be a big fan of the original series, at least according to this publicity quote:

“One of my first, and fondest, memories of joining the NBC family in 2007 was having the pleasure of getting to know Tim Kring, and the cast of ‘Heroes.’ I was a fan of their collective work and always thought it was such a fantastic and fun world they got to play in. With ‘Heroes: Reborn,’ I’m honored to have the opportunity to bring more of that world to life, and excited to help in offering the fans of the franchise an epic new installation of a series that made such a huge impact on entertainment.”

Also, for those who weren’t already aware, Jack Coleman will return as Noah Bennet, or “HRG” as fans came to call him due to his signature horn-rimmed glasses. That means there will probably be some ties to the original series, but this likely intends to tell a whole new story.

If you’re waiting to find out more about this miniseries event, there will be a digital series launching prior to the series premiere (which has yet to be dated) that will introduced the characters and new storylines being put into action by executive producers Tim Kring, Peter Elkoff and James Middleton.
