Comedy Central Stars Key and Peele Join FX’s Limited Series ‘Fargo’

No “Liam Neesons” or “Bruce Willys” here, but this outcome could still be epic!

Not only is the new FX series “Fargo” absolutely STUFFED with A-list talent, the production has also just added A-list comedy team Keegan-Michael Key and Jordan Peele to its roster – but not in the capacity we’ve grown accustomed to with this pair.

Word from IndieWire is that the Comedy Central stars will have a four-episode arc in the ten episode upcoming series, playing the characters of Webb Pepper and Bill Budge, two FBI agents whose obsession with finding Lorne Malvo (Billy Bob Thornton) sees them arriving in Bemidji, Minnesota in order to give a little payback.

Now, if you’re thinking THIS “Fargo” will mirror the Coen Brothers’ film, think again: this version will feature a new “true crime” story complete with an all new cast of characters (but the “Oh yah?” and “You betcha!” type of humor we know and love will still be there).

In the new series, Academy Award winner Billy Bob Thornton (Sling Blade, Friday Night Lights) is drifter Lorne Malvo, a rather nasty sort of man who pretty much turns the lives of everyone in the town upside down, including that of insurance salesman Lester Nygaard (The Hobbit’s Martin Freeman). Colin Hanks (“Dexter”) is Gus Grimly, a Duluth Police Deputy and a single dad who (when face-to-face with a killer) has to decide what’s more important – his duty as a cop or his duty as a father. And Allison Tolman plays the plucky Deputy Molly Solverson.

This amazing roster also includes Bob Odenkirk (“Breaking Bad”), Oliver Platt (“The Big C”), Adam Goldberg (Saving Private Ryan), Kate Walsh (“Private Practice”), Glenn Howerton (“It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia”), and Keith Carradine (“Dexter”) with Academy Award-winning writer/directors Joel and Ethan Coen (who won Best Original Screenplay for Fargo back in 1996) back in the creative driver’s seat (having written the first three episodes of the TV series).

“Fargo” premieres this April on FX.
