Comix Chix Blog: Ep 13: Kickin’ it with Clare Kramer

By January 2, 2013

Happy 2013, comics fans! I trust you all had a wonderful holiday filled with all sorts of geeky goodness… I know I did!

This week I’m joined by the gorgeous and talented Clare Kramer – we’re shakin’ the confetti out of our hair and sitting down to talk about all we’re excited about coming up in 2013. We also talk about boys, how Joss Whedon is going to take over the world and our 2013 New Year’s resolutions (you can find a complete list of mine here). Basically, it’s a virtual slumber party for your ear holes.

I also give Clare the rundown on The Great Doctor Who Re-Watch 2013 in the podcast. It is likely that you’ll soon be able to read updates here on GeekNation, but until then you can find info/watching guides on my website.

It was a super fun treat to get to geek out with Clare for an hour for the podcast, and I want to thank her again for joining us. Make sure to follow her on Twitter: @ClareKramer and check out Five by Five (with Tory Mell) weekly, right here on GeekNation!

Comix Chix Comics Picks 2 January 2013:

  • Captain Marvel: Vol. 1: In Pursuit of Flight TPB (DC Comics) DeConnick, Soy, Rios — The first trade paperback of Kelly Sue DeConnick’s re-imagining of Captain Marvel is out on racks today. If you haven’t been reading, this is a good chance to catch up.
  • Willow in Wonderland #3 Megan Lara variant cover (Dark Horse Comics) Parker, Gage, Ching, Gorder — Okay, so aside from the fact that this series is appropriate (Clare on the podcast, Buffy book pimping) and amazing to read, the Lara variant cover is SMEXYYYY! Buy it, buy it now!
  • Nowhere Man #1 2nd Printing (Virgin Comics) Jackman, Guggenheim, Stone, Gulacy — I am normally skeptical of celebrities creating comics. However, as this one (conceived of by Hugh Jackman and Eli Stone) is on it’s second printing, I suspect there might be some merit to it. I am going to check it out, I will report back as to it’s value to the community.

A note from Kate: This is the last episode of Comix Chix where we’re working with Spark Gap Studios and producer Nicholas Young. I wanted to take a moment to thank him for all his hard work in getting the podcast up and running for GeekNation. It would not have been this great or easy without his help. Good luck, Nicholas!
