‘Conan’ Heading to San Diego Comic-Con for a Whole Week of Shows in 2015

The biggest comic book and pop culture convention of the year is just a few months away, and we’ll have plenty of our team on hand for Comic-Con International in San Diego to report on the latest footage from the biggest and geekiest films and TV shows coming over the next couple years. The convention seems to be getting bigger every single year, and starting in 2015, us nerds will have a little more company.

While the late night TV scene is focusing on who will replace David Letterman on “The Late Show” (it could end up being Stephen Colbert), TBS just sent out a press release announcing that “Conan” will be heading to Comic-Con International in July of 2015.

“Conan” will become the first late night show to ever broadcast from the location of one of the biggest gathering of nerds and geeks in the world. While plenty of big name celebrities venture to Southern California for the big show, this will be the first time a program like this has been so prominent.

Conan O’Brien and his trusty Team Coco crew will broadcast an entire week of shows, filming inside the historic Spreckels Theater in downtown San Diego. That’s still over a year away, but this kind of attention only means that geek culture is becoming more mainstream, and the convention is bound to be even crazier in 2015.

Comic-Con

It’s a smart move for Conan to hit up Comic-Con in 2015 since it promises to be one of the biggest years for blockbuster films. Some of the films that are arriving next year include The Avengers: Age of Ultron, Ant-Man, Jurassic World, Tomorrowland, Fantastic Four, Terminator: Genesis, Assassin’s Creed, James Bond 24, The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part II, Mission: Impossible 5 and Star Wars: Episode VII. Yeah, it’s going to be a wild year.

“Conan” will broadcast from San Diego on July 8th through July 12th, which is interesting since that means TBS will have shows on a Wednesday through a Sunday, something he hasn’t done before. That also means Comic-Con is much earlier in the month than it’s been in recent years.

You can be sure that as the summer of 2015 gets closer, there will be opportunities for convention attendees to check out the live-taping of “Conan” in San Diego, and there might even be an opportunity for some fans to get in front of the camera. After all, back in 2008, Conan O’Brien might not have been at the convention, but he sent his good pal Triumph the Insult Comic Dog to check out the scene with hilarious results:

  • I loved Conan’s trip to Comic-Con a few years ago, so this should be great. He really excels when he’s embracing this kind of stuff.
