Conan O’Brien Reviews ‘Injustice: Gods Among Us,’ Reveals New DLC Character

By June 13, 2013

Injustice: Gods Among Us has become one of the hottest properties in gaming right now. Starring the iconic heroes and villains of the DC Comics Universe, the fighting game developed by Netherrealm Studios (creators of Mortal Kombat) has helped to launch a powerful new franchise for Warner Bros. A popular spin-off comic book series currently occupies half of Amazon’s top 20 selling superhero comics, and the game itself, according to a report at Event Hubs, considerably spiked the normally anemic month-of-April game sales, being the first game released in that time to sell more than 250,000 copies (with its final tally standing at 424,000 units sold that month).

The game has managed to maintain it’s vibrant online community with the release of several new downloadable content (or DLC) packs, including different comic book costumes from past DC adventures for the characters to fight in, new single player missions, and even additional fighters, with more on the way. So far, Netherrealm Studios has added the Czarnian bounty hunter Lobo, the Dark Knight’s second protégé Batgirl, and even Mortal Kombat guest character and resurrected Shirai Ryu specter Scorpion to the game’s already broad lineup of DC characters. These include the big guns like Superman, Batman, and the other members of the Justice League, to the Joker, Lex Luthor, and the assassin Deathstroke.

After a post by the game’s staff on its Facebook page, fans of the game were told to tune into Conan on TBS last night for a special announcement. What they also got, though, was a very funny review of the game by the man himself on a segment called “Clueless Gamer.” In it, Conan gives his funny perspective on the game, its tie-in comic (and what geek culture has really become), and some of the characters, while also revealing to the world the fourth downloadable fighter coming next month: none other than Superman’s current cinematic rival, General Zod.

Enjoy the video of the segment below, including Conan’s superheroic alter ego the Flaming C (which looks to be a skinned version of Superman) squaring off against Zod!

Injustice: Gods Among Us is now available for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and Wii U.
