Could Wolverine Have a Cameo in ‘Deadpool?

By May 26, 2015

If you’ve been paying attention to Ryan Reynolds on Twitter and Instagram, then you’ve gotten some cool teases behind the scenes of Deadpool, including the first look at the actor suited up as the Merc with a Mouth and a lovely Make-A-Wish moment for some young fans. Now, we also have a hint of something else cool we might see when the film arrives next year.

Speaking with News Limited (via Uproxx), Reynolds teased that there may be a cameo from Hugh Jackman as the popular X-Men character Wolverine. It would make sense considering the history the characters have in the comics, as well as the disappointing X-Men Origins: Wolverine, but will it actually happen? Here’s what Reynolds said when asked about the possibility:

“God I hope so, that would be really nice. I dunno, we’ll see. It seems like he’s open to it, but it’s gonna be more of a scheduling issue than anything else.”

So it sounds like there may be some kind of plan for Wolverine to pop up in Deadpool at some point, but the logistics of it haven’t been worked out yet. Could it be some kind of credits scene cameo, or an actual scene within the movie itself? We know that this big screen adaptation of Deadpool will pretty much retcon what happened in X-Men Origins: Wolverine, so it’ll be interesting to see how the adamantium clad mutant would be used this time.

Jackman is the only actor to appear in every single X-Men movie that’s been made so far. And since Deadpool is supposed to take place in the same universe as the X-Men, having him pop up in some capacity would keep his perfect record intact.

However, as we heard earlier this year, despite Jackman’s previous desire to play Wolverine forever, the actor will likely be done playing the character after the sequel to 2013′s The Wolverine arrives in 2017. So, let’s hope that maybe we get some kind of scene with Jackman as Wolverine in Deadpool before he completes his last turn as the iconic mutant. We’ll see if it happens when Deadpool, which has been confirmed to be R-rated, arrives on February 12th, 2016.
