Daniel Radcliffe’s Drama ‘Swiss Army Man’ Is Getting Walkouts At Sundance

By January 24, 2016

The latest farting corpse drama is causing some walkouts at Sundance. In the case of this headline and article, there is really no way to say it other than that.

Happens every time.

In Swiss Army Man, Daniel Radcliffe plays a dead body that washes along the shore, found by Paul Dano’s character. At which point the dead body comes to life by farting and twitching. Afterwards, there’s long conversations about life and masturbation, complete with a running “dead guy has a constant erection” joke. No, I’m serious. I’m not creative enough to think of something that stupid or intriguing.

While that synopsis might sound interesting, some Sundance movie goers don’t share the sentiment. Variety reports that one of the festival’s most highly anticipated indie movies is prompting many to head for the exits early. Apparently buyers are also complaining that the films at this years event aren’t “commercial” enough. This is most likely true…  and there doesn’t seem to be a core audience for the latest flick. Seems like the filmmakers on this one went back to the roots of Sundance, producing a truly independent movie and the audience just isn’t buying it.

In all seriousness, it’s obvious Radcliffe is trying to shake that Harry Potter image and good for him; sometimes you just have to go for it and do something really weird. This seems to be one of those times.

What do you think, GeekNation? Does this sound even more intriguing now that you know some people despised it? Funny how that works, isn’t it? For more Sundance updates, make sure you check back — right here on GeekNation.

Mike Holtz is just a guy looking for any excuse to talk movies and needs to be able to give people a legitimate reason to spend what they spend on popcorn each month. The Dad to a superhero little girl with another on the way, Mike's also written for a few cool websites and talked for a few more. Also, Mike cries like a school girl every time he watches 'Rocky.'

All of Daniel Radcliffe’s movies other than Harry Potter, are weird and craptastic.

I read/watched a few other things about this movie from people who are at Sundance. From what they have said this seems right up my ally. Excited to eventually see it.
