There has been a lot, and I mean a lot of hype surrounding Daredevil season 2, and for good reason too. After the Marvel and Netflix series premiered earlier this year, the show has been receiving next to nonstop attention and critical acclaim. It managed to seemingly crack the ultimate superhero show formula, and enthralled millions of viewers around the world, including people who may have never even heard of the Daredevil character before. So yeah, to say it was a success would probably be putting it a little lightly.
However, season 2 of the series looks like it could bring even more incredible elements to what was an already solid television series. With the introduction of Jon Bernthal’s Frank Castle/The Punisher and Elodie Yung’s Elektra, it seems like Matt Murdock’s (Charlie Cox) world is about to become even more crowded, with some comic book characters who have been in desperate need of faithful onscreen interpretations. It looks like Daredevil might finally deliver on their potential too.
After its recent debut at this year’s New York Comic-Con, the first official teaser for season 2 of the hit Marvel/Netflix series has premiered online and it is awesome. To put it simply. Check it out below:

Now, obviously the teaser doesn’t really show all that much, but considering that it’s probably a little more than six months away from its actual premiere date, the lack of finished footage is understandable. With that being said, the footage that is shown is pretty damn awesome.
First we get some more wise words of advice from for Matt about the guilt and regret that’s still gnawing away at him. He doesn’t quite understand why it’s still there after he defeated the Kingpin (Vincent D’Onofrio) and helped restore some kind of balance to Hell’s Kitchen, or as much as he could hope. It’s an interesting question to start the teaser off with, and becomes even more intriguing when you realize that this is the first official piece of information that the creative team wants fans to learn about the new season. Something tells me Matt is going to be struggling with his two lives even more than he did the first time around, and with new threats showing up at every turn – his focus may become even more diluted than he’ll need it to be.
We got our first official shot of Elodie Yung’s Elektra too, as she pulls a familiar looking piece of red cloth over the bottom half of her face, getting ready for a night of crime fighting we can assume. But the real standout of this trailer goes to its final sequence, which begins with Karen looking at an eerily familiar x-ray of a skull, Jon Bernthal walking down a hallway with a gun in his hand, and one final crazed word – “Beg“. This trailer may not have shown a lot, but it showed more than enough in my opinion, and it looks like Daredevil is about to become even more brutal and darker than it was last season. I can’t wait.
Season 2 of Daredevil will premiere in 2016 on Netflix.
