Several weeks ago, Ben Affleck blew up the internet when he randomly and unexpectedly posted a video showing what seemed to be official footage of Slade Wilson/Deathstroke being introduced into the live-action DC Extended Universe. Fairly shortly after that, Geoff Johns went on to confirm that following some rampant fan speculation surrounding the casting, that yes, Joe Manganiello would be playing the coveted role, as the main antagonist in Affleck’s solo Batman movie.
However, where Johns confirmed that Manganiello would be starring in the solo film, what has yet to be confirmed is whether or not he’ll be appearing in next year’s Justice League first, especially since the footage that Affleck posted seemed to have taken place during the same time as filming for the massive team up film.
Well, thanks to a new cryptic photo from the set of the film today, posted by director Zack Snyder, it looks like we can assume that Slade Wilson will indeed be appearing in Justice League.

For those of you that can’t tell for sure what it is that Snyder is working on on the tablet, fear not, as some fans have already gone ahead and blown up the image, which seems to feature Snyder working on or inspecting storyboards for Justice League featuring Slade Wilson:

Now, this only makes sense really, because while it certainly made for a cool announcement technique for Manganiello’s casting, it wouldn’t have been practical to get the actor fitted and in a full blown Deathstroke costume, and then take time out of the production to even shoot a scene with him, if he wasn’t going to be appearing in Justice League somehow. But it looks like we can finally put this uncertainty to bed once and for all (probably).
Manganiello’s casting has seemed to be received well by both fans and DC critics alike as well, and it’ll be interesting to see just how large of a role he does end up having in Justice League, before going on to terrorize Affleck’s Bruce Wayne in the highly-anticipated solo film.
Justice League is set to hit theatres on November 17th, 2017.
