Dwayne Johnson Teases DC Comics Role in 2014

During a fan Q&A session on Twitter yesterday, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson announced that he recently met with…well, I’ll let him tell you:

Now, what could “the cool bad assery” mean? Wild speculation has already torn through a few corners of the internet, with some people jumping to conclusions that Johnson may play Lex Luthor in DC’s Batman vs. Superman since it’s the only film scheduled to shoot in 2014 (that film already has a 2015 release penciled in). I SERIOUSLY doubt that we’ll see the former pro wrestler suit up to play Superman’s nemesis, and if I had to put money on this thing, I’d bet that there’s going to be some kind of comic book announced with The Rock’s heavy involvement – either about him, specifically, or a character he’s created.

Still, fans are on the edge of their seats waiting to get more info on whatever this new project is, considering Johnson has had his hands in a couple DC Comics film projects over the past few years. Even though neither one panned out, he’s been attached to star in a Lobo movie and to play Black Adam in a Shazam film; since Shazam director Peter Segal recently clarified that his film is on hold indefinitely, and the Lobo film isn’t a priority for anyone at DC these days, we’re guessing “the cool bad assery” doesn’t mean a resurrection for either of those projects.

But I’ve learned one thing covering Johnson’s career in Hollywood: never, ever, underestimate him. Forbes just named the dude the highest grossing actor of 2013, so he can pretty much do what he wants at this point. We’ll just have to wait and see what he has…well…cooking.

Dwayne Johnson as a Lex Luthor in Batman vs Superman will make the already anticipated movie even more exciting! I love when a movie has a great cast!
