Nintendo may have a very limited presence at E3 2016 when compared to Microsoft and Sony, but that doesn’t mean their annual press conference had any less impact. Fans have been eager to see more footage from the publisher’s new Legend of Zelda title, and they weren’t disappointed, as a huge portion of Nintendo’s presentation was focused on the new adventures of Link.

Opening with a woman’s voice telling our hero to open his eyes, the first trailer for The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild showcased the new game’s beautiful art style, and a wealth of new features. Check it out for yourself.

Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime promised that The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild would offer a completely new approach to the decades-old series, and the game’s first official trailer certainly backs up those claims. The massive open world seems to offer plenty of new gameplay opportunities, as we see Link climbing everything from trees to mountains to castle walls, chopping down a tree to create a bridge, cooking food, shooting a beehive to send a swarm of bees chasing after enemies, and rolling a boulder down a hill to dispose of some monsters.

After the trailer, Nintendo showed off some other upcoming titles, but closed things out with an extended gameplay session that gave fans their first look at the opening moments of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. You can check out the videos below to get an idea of what to expect when the game launches next year.

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild will launch simultaneously on the Wii U and Nintendo’s next console, currently codenamed “NX,” sometime in 2017.
