Beyond being known as Captain Picard on “Star Trek: The Next Generation” or Professor X in the X-Men film series, most people understand that Sir Patrick Stewart is a very versatile actor, classically trained and an alumnus of the Royal Shakespeare Company. Beyond his career-defining roles in major franchises, a lot of people are starting to see a different side of the 74 year old, since he’s become active on social media and has showed off his more playful and humorous side.

That side is going to come out and play in a bigger way for more people to see later this year, when the new Starz original series “Blunt Talk” is released. Executive produced by Seth MacFarlane (“Family Guy,” Ted), “Blunt Talk” tells the story of British talk show host Walter Blunt, whose “misguided decision making” tends to land him in hot water both in front of and behind the camera. The official synopsis reads,

Through the platform of his nightly interview show, Blunt is on a mission to impart his wisdom and guidance on how Americans should live, think and behave. Besieged by network bosses, a dysfunctional news staff, numerous ex-wives and children of all ages, Blunt’s only support is the alcoholic manservant he transplanted from the U.K. to join him in Los Angeles.

In addition to Stewart, “Blunt Talk” will also star Jacki Weaver (Silver Linings Playbook) as Rosalie, Blunt’s producer, and Adrian Scarborough (The King’s Speech) as Harry, Blunt’s aforementioned alcoholic manservant. Dolly Wells (“Doll & Em,”) will play Celia, Blunt’s writer, and Timm Sharp (“Enlightened”) will play Jim, his other writer. Comedian Richard Lewis (“Curb Your Enthusiasm”) will also star as Dr. Weiss, Blunt’s droll therapist.

The show has already been approved for two seasons at 10 episodes each, with the first season premiering this coming summer. For more on Patrick Stewart and “Blunt Talk,” keep an eye on GeekNation!
