First ‘Rogue One – A Star Wars Story’ Teaser Revealed, Full Trailer Arriving Tomorrow

By April 6, 2016

Directed by Godzilla‘s Gareth Edwards, and set to take place right before the events that begin A New Hope, this year’s Rogue One – A Star Wars Story is promising to be the first installment in an entirely new exploration of the Star Wars universe onscreen.

Following the first, small teaser trailer that aired at last year’s Star Wars Celebration, and then the first cast photo at the D23 Expo as well, the first official moments of footage from the film have been revealed today by Disney, in addition to the announcement of the first trailer’s premiere date.

Debuting during tomorrow morning’s broadcast of Good Morning America on ABC, the first trailer for the film will feature fans’ first real look at the story and look of the film, which has been hotly discussed amongst the Star Wars community for months now.

Check out the small announcement video below:

Following the group of rebel soldiers and bounty hunters responsible for getting the Rebellion the Death Star plans before A New Hope (which Vader was hunting for in the opening scene), the film stars Felicity Jones, Ben Mendelsohn, Alan Tudyk, Diego Luna, Donnie Yen, Riz Ahmed, Forest Whitaker, Mads Mikkelsen, and more.

Rumors have been circling the internet regarding Rogue One for months now, with several saying the film could feature a brief appearance from none other than Darth Vader and, what might have been confirmed in these brief seconds of footage, our first onscreen Shadowtroopers as well. Compared heavily to films like Zero Dark Thirty already, the film will very much be incorporating the “Wars” part of its title into its story and action, with Edwards previously promising it as a much darker Star Wars film than we’re used to.

Based off of Edwards’ incredible visual skills showcased in Godzilla alone too, Rogue One has the potential to at the very least, be the best looking Star Wars film we’ve ever seen, though I have a feeling it will be much more than just that. With an impressive cast to boot as well, Rogue One will hopefully contain just as much spectacle and promise for the future of the Star Wars franchise as The Force Awakens did.

Rogue One – A Star Wars Story is set to hit theatres on December 16th.
