More details have surfaced about the “Full House” sequel, appropriately titled “Fuller House,” including a tweak to the show’s storyline.
According to EOnline, the show originally focused on oldest daughter and newly widowed D.J. Tanner-Fuller (GET IT?!) with two kids in tow and one on the way, but happier heads prevailed and while still widowed, Tanner-Fuller is no longer pregnant and will start the show with three kids. The house becomes even “fuller” when D.J. asks best friend and champion Danny Tanner-agitator Kimmy Gibbler (Andrea Barber) — now a single mom herself — and little sis Stephanie Tanner (Jodie Sweetin) to move in and help raise her family.
For those of you not in the know, or who don’t remember, the original “Full House” began with Danny Tanner (Bob Saget) — newly widowed when his wife was killed by a drunk driver — asking brother-in-law Jesse (John Stamos) and best friend Joey (Dave Coulier) to move in and help him to raise his three children.
Candace Cameron Bure, who returns to reprise the role of D.J., explains why the change was made.
We didn’t start it off quite so heavy so some more time has passed than they originally intended. It IS tragedy that starts off the show, which was like the original “Full House,” but the themes are always heartfelt, it’s always a situation you can always learn something from. Tonally, it will feel the same as the original “Full House,” which is heartfelt and funny and family friendly but it’s current. It’s today’s time.
Many fans are hoping that this will signal the return of D.J.’s first love and expert fridge raider Steve Hale, played by Scott Weinger (who also voiced Aladdin for the hit Disney film) and if he’s not a series regular (as Weinger’s current job has him writing for the ABC hit show “Black-ish“) here’s hoping we get at least an arc! And if this recent selfie taken by Cameron Bure is any indication, they’ll still look adorable as all heck together!
OH MYLANTA! Fingers crossed we get the Steve and D.J. wedding we’ve always wanted but sadly never got!
What say YOU of this recent tweak to the premise? Are you excited or hesitant? Who was YOUR fave “Full House” character? Sound off!
