‘Game of Thrones’ Season 6 Reminds Us That Basically Anyone Can Die

The unpredictability that underlines every scene and confrontation in Game of Thrones is a large reason the show has become as beloved as it is, even if it has formed a bit of a love/hate relationship with its fans. The fact that any character, major or minor, can die at any moment in the series has managed to make even the most seemingly unimportant conversations between characters fraught with tension and fear.

After the seemingly ruthless death of one of the show’s most beloved and major characters at the end of its fifth season last year as well (although the finality of said death is still up for debate) the fantasy pop culture phenomenon is set to head into its six season in just a few short months, and it has a whole lot of questions left to answer.

A new, cryptic teaser for the upcoming season has been unveiled as well, and it takes place inside the really creepy Hall of Faces we were introduced to last season. This time though, some of the faces may look familiar to long time fans of the show. Check it out below:

Seeing faces like Ned Stark, Rob Stark, and well… a lot of Starks return in this trailer acted as a bit of a healthy reminder of how far the characters have come since we first met them in the pilot episode. Ending with a shot of the faces of the new season’s major characters altogether though, hit the exactly ominous tone that I bet whoever cut this trailer together was probably hoping for… you manipulative bastards.

I’d be lying if I said I didn’t get at least a tiny bit frightened when I saw Tyrion’s face up on that wall as well.

Season six of Game of Thrones will premiere on Sunday, April 24th on HBO.
