Cliff Bleszinski has become one of the most well-known names in the video game industry of the past few years. After his work on Unreal gained him some recognition in the late 1990s, Cliff eventually was given free reign at the company to design his own game. What came of this decision ended up becoming one of the most popular game franchises of all time with Gears of War. However, Bleszinski parted ways with Epic Studios in 2012 to begin his own project, Boss Key Productions.
Cliff has teased Boss Key’s first game for a while now, teasing a new game called “Project Bluestreak” from time to time. However, not much was known about the game up to this point, and while Bleszinksi has promised to be bringing back a special kind of game with Boss Key Productions, fans have yet to see what he has in mind.
That is, until now. The first official trailer for Bleszinski’s newest game, Lawbreakers, has officially been released online giving fans their first look at the game’s story and graphics. Check it out below:
Bleszinksi has commented on the game’s mechanics, promising that it will be a fast and fun, trigger-happy form of gameplay that focuses more on “skill, not streaks”. Set in a distant future, the game will pit teams of five against each other in a style reminiscent of cops and robbers. However, this time, both the cops and robbers will be using highly-advanced super suits that allow them to bounce around and jump like they are continually in zero gravity, offering a fun and new twist on the classic style of gameplay.
The game will be published with Nexon, and will be released completely free with optional content purchases and transactions, making Lawbreakers yet another game to move into this free-to-play trend in the industry right now. However, while the game will be using a lot of revolutionary mechanics and twists to enhance it’s uniqueness, there’s no denying the resemblance to some of Bleszinski’s past projects, and that’s far from a bad thing. After crafting some of the best shooter games of all time, it looks like fans are going to be in for one hell of a fun time with Lawbreakers.
Lawbreakers is set to be released in 2016.
