‘Ghostbusters’ Reboot Villain Revealed

By February 17, 2016

Promotion for the Paul Feig-directed Ghostbusters reboot is starting to heat up the closer and closer to the film’s theatrical release date we get, with the recent trailer announcement and even first image of the team’s alternative set of wheels in the Ecto-2. As it is with most blockbuster movies nowadays though, a new character from the reboot has been revealed in a way that is becoming more and more common… through its toy.

During the recent Toy Fair at New York, PixelDan got a look at some of the upcoming toys and figures for the film, including its main villain, which up until this point, had been a mystery.

Take a gander down below at Rowan, the film’s lead ghost that looks to be based on the iconic “No Ghosts” logo created by original producer Michael C. Gross. Other toys included are an unknown, winged demon called “Mayhem” and the return of Slimer, who I think we all kinda hoped would be making an appearance here:

The character is obviously somewhat reminiscent of the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man from the original film, but much like everything else from the film so far, with just a little bit of a twist. The bowtie is fun, and the character itself has a cool design, just like the other costumes and gadgets do.

So far the aesthetic for the reboot looks on point, but that’s never really been my concern with the project anyways. I’m just looking forward to seeing some actual footage from the reboot, and finding out how they’re managing on recapturing the tone of the original films. Until then though, it looks like we can expect to see some fairly stellar new and familiar ghost faces in this one.

The Ghostbusters reboot is set to hit theatres on July 15th.
