Giant ‘Star Trek’ Attraction To Open in Spain

By March 3, 2014

Fair warning, Star Trek fans: you may have to ask Scotty to beam you a new pair of pants after you see this.

The upcoming Paramount Park Murcia in Alhama de Murcia, Spain has announced that “‘Star Trek’ will have a large presence in the park,” and will be the main franchise in the area of the park known as “Plaza Futura.”

Judging by this AMAZING concept art (via Uproxx), Plaza Futura will contain a “Starfleet Spain” recruitment center, 3D simulator (possibly a shuttle ride around the spacedock) and a pretty sick roller coaster known as the “Warp Speed Coaster,” (below) which measures in at 100 ft high and hits speeds of around 65 mph with several loops and an underground section that resembles a wormhole.

Plaza Futura will share their space with a War Of The Worlds-themed restaurant and other areas of the park will feature locations based on other Paramount properties including Stardust, The Spiderwick Chronicles, Tim Burton’s Sleepy Hollow, Rango, Grease, Mission Impossible and The Godfather trilogy.

Paramount Park Murcia is scheduled to open sometime in the second half of 2015, so get your passport up to date and start saving your money!

Que Buena! I have been a Trekkie since the heady days. This proves a good attraction is cross-cultural. I would love to see it and may have to schedule a trip now! Gracias!

This might just be the excuse to go to Spain. They would have appeared to spare no expense. I pray it lives up to the hype. Beam Me Up!!!
