Glenn Close One Step Closer To ‘Guardians Of The Galaxy’

By May 30, 2013

In the most interesting piece of casting news from the Guardians Of The Galaxy camp, Deadline broke the news that six-time Oscar nominee Glenn Close is one signature away from joining the Guardians as Nova Corps’ head officer. While the character name is not known (at this time), current thoughts are she’ll be a Nova Prime.

While some thought she’d be a good fit for the voice of Rocket Raccoon, others are thinking she may be a character invented for the film (as there’s no Prime that matches Close); she won’t be a variation on Richard Rider (a.k.a. Nova) but as the rumor mill says John C. Reilly will play the Coulson-esque Rhomann Dey (the one who gave Nova his power)…this could mean Rider will get his own film at some point (depending on the success of this film).

Deadline speculates that Close’s Nova Prime character will be more like the female version of Nick Fury (The Avengers), which would make sense to me as Close is a handsome woman and can play a hard-as-nails, BAMF leader; a role she’s played quite a few times in her MASSIVE career.

When Close signs on the dotted line, she’ll join Chris Pratt (Star-Lord), Zoe Saldana (Gamora), Michael Rooker (Yondu) and Dave Bautista (Drax The Destroyer) as they defend the galaxy against Lee Pace (The Controller) when Guardians Of The Galaxy opens in theatres August 1, 2014.

And as I’ve always enjoyed James Gunn’s casting choices, I would LOVE to see Close in a Marvel film!

You gotta admit, your curiosity is WAY piqued.

(Yes, that’s the correct way to spell it…NOT “peaked.” The more you knoooooooow.)

As always, stay tuned.
