‘Guardians’ Star Dave Bautista to Play Henchman in ‘Bond 24’

By October 13, 2014

The success of Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy was a surprise for a lot of people because it’s a wonderfully weird movie with characters no one had really heard of before, but within the film itself, one of the biggest surprises had to be Dave Bautista’s performance as Drax the Destroyer. The hulking former wrestler brought a level of emotion, depth, and especially humor to the role that caught a lot of people off guard, and we’re excited to see how he might play a larger role in the Marvel universe moving forward.

But that’s not the only cinematic universe Bautista is about to inhabit: Latino Review reports that the wrestler-turned-actor has earned the role of Hinx in the next James Bond movie. Some casting breakdowns for Bond 24 (as it’s still being called, since the official name hasn’t been released) were released recently, and word was that the production was looking to create a new iconic henchman to follow in the footsteps of Oddjob and Jaws – a physically imposing force who has “several fights with Bond.” Bautista certainly fits the mold, and if he’s allowed to bring some of the humor that he brought to Guardians in this movie, he could lighten up the traditionally dour Daniel Craig-era Bond films considerably.

Additionally, Blue is the Warmest Color star Lea Seydoux has been tapped as the femme fatale in the new movie, but no more details are known about her character at this time. We’ll keep you posted on the future of Bond as more info comes our way. In the meantime, though, what do you think about Bautista playing a Bond henchman? Let us know in the comments!
