‘Harry Potter’ Spinoff ‘Fantastic Beasts’ Gets Release Date

By May 14, 2014

Good news for Harry Potter fanatics! It was announced today that Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, the first installment in the Harry Potter spinoff trilogy, has a release date set. The sure-to-be blockbuster franchise, brought to us courtesy of Warner Bros. and J.K. Rowling herself, will be out November 18, 2016,

The “Fantastic Beasts” trilogy is not a prequel or a sequel to the “Harry Potter” series, but is being considered an extension of the “Harry Potter” universe. The focus of the series will be the adventures of magizoologist Newt Scamander and takes place in New York, 70 years before the “Harry Potter” series begins. The series is based on the Fantastic Beasts Magizoology compendium that Rowling published in 2001.

The cast, director and producers have yet to be confirmed, but the film will mark J.K. Rowling’s debut as a screenwriter.
