Warning: This post will contain spoilers for Game of Thrones, in case you couldn’t already tell.

The season finale of Game of Thrones basically confirmed the long rumored R + L = J fan theory once and for all, as it was confirmed that Jon Snow was not actually the bastard son of Ned Stark, but instead the only son of his sister Lyanna, who he swore to protect immediately before her death. The only thing that it didn’t 100% confirm was that he was the son of Rhaegar Targaryen, something that Bran actor Isaac Hempstead-Wright pointed out, even though let’s face it - we all totally know that Rhaegar is his dad.

It looks like HBO may have already confirmed that anyways though, before the show even could, thanks to a very informative new infographic that the network has released, which very clearly marks Jon Snow’s parents as Lyanna Stark and Rhaegar Targaryen.

Check out the infographic below, which was uploaded directly on the Making Game of Thrones blog:

Well, I guess it’s official. About the only thing that’s left up for debate now, is whether or not Jon is actually his name, or if as one new theory suggests, Ned might have changed it from Jaehaerys to Jon in order to avoid any suspicion from Robert Baratheon or other parties. For those of you who might need a refresher on who exactly Rhaegar was, and what his role in the Thrones universe might be though, I suggest checking out some of the previous articles I’ve written on the subject over the past few days.

Basically, having these two parents put Jon Snow in a very promising and possibly powerful position moving forward in the show, depending on when he and everyone else realizes the truth.

Game of Thrones season seven does not currently have a release date, though there’s no denying that it’ll be too far away for everyones’ liking.
