Written and developed by playwright Nic Pizzolatto, the first season of the show starred Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson, following a story over a period of 20 years as two former Louisiana State Police officers investigated a strange murder case. Season two follows a new cast in a new location, and concerns a detective and war veteran (played by Taylor Kitsch) discovering a crime scene that attracts the attention of other detectives (Colin Farrell and Rachel McAdams), which also has some kind of involvement from a career criminal and entrepreneur (played by Vince Vaughn).
