I wouldn’t believe it if I didn’t read it with my own eyes. And in the interest of being PC and warning all of you fine folks about uncomfortable situations, in print only of course; I am issuing a NSFW WARNING. But only in that I wouldn’t read this aloud, especially if children are around.
I imagine I just got your attention; more so than normal. Because in discussing this report in regards to HBO, the network that produces Game of Thrones, said series that deals in pretty graphic accounts of sex and nudity, is getting a major run for its money with its newest sci-fi/rebooted series Westworld.
Thanks to a report from The Hollywood Reporter, Westworld will reportedly require its extras to be nude and engage in ‘genital to genital touching.’
In a form placed on Sag/Aftra, background extras and actors might be required to engage in:
-Genital to genital touching, simulate oral sex with hand to genital touching, contort to form a table-like shape while being fully nude, pose on all fours while others who are fully nude ride on your back [and] ride on someone’s back while you are both fully nude; have your genitals painted or other assorted acts.
Not to put it lightly or anything.
Since HBO is pretty used to this type of thing with its hit series GoT as mentioned, this might be somewhat par for the course. Then again, it’s not the viewer who has to do all these ‘acts’; they merely get to watch. The extras and actors will definitely have their work cut out for them in regards to this casting call. While I am sort of shocked by such a call for these actors to perform like this, I can’t help but wonder what, exactly, the series will actually look like based on the fact that it is based on the 1973 film of the same name by Michael Crichton (Jurassic Park) about a high-tech Western style theme park where the androids malfunction after a power “surge.” The series has been described as:
“A dark odyssey about the dawn of artificial consciousness and the future of sin.”
It will be interesting (naturally) to see how this futuristic world of androids one-ups the fantasy based Thrones in the “graphic sex” department. No easy feat. Seeing too as HBO has said the series is from the POV of the robots, the main characters of the show. All this being said, and by all accounts, Westworld just won the game of most interesting new series coming to cable.
The series premieres in 2016, and stars Anthony Hopkins, Ed Harris, Jeffrey Wright, Thandie Newton, James Marsden, and Evan Rachel Wood.
