Idris Elba and Tom Hiddleston to Appear in ‘Avengers: Age of Ultron’

Although it was originally believed that Tom Hiddleston would not be reprising his Marvel Cinematic Universe role of Loki in the studio’s second major crossover film next year, we’ve learned that the God of Mischeif will indeed be making an appearance…and that he’ll be bringing Asgard’s Guardian of Worlds with him.

Actor Idris Elba, who has played Asgardian gatekeeper Heimdall in both 2011’s Thor and 2013’s Thor: The Dark World, let slip that both he and Tom Hiddleston will be appearing in at least one scene with Chris Hemsworth’s Thor in next year’s highly anticipated team-up film Avengers: Age of Ultron. Speaking with the UK’s Telegraph, Elba rather nonchalantly lets the news slip out even though he likely wasn’t supposed to say anything about it. The interview details his confession as follows:

“I’m in Avengers,” he reveals. He means that his Thor character, deity-cum-sentry Heimdall, appears in Age of Ultron, the second instalment [sic] of the superhero ensemble franchise. “And I’m doing a scene with Chris Hemsworth [who plays Thor] and Tom Hiddleston [Loki]…”

It’s interesting to think about what the scene in question would be, but in some of the leaked footage from the new film showing a conversation between Captain America and Iron Man, they talk about “the Maximoff girl” (aka Elizabeth Olson’s Scarlet Witch) “showing” some of the team members…something. Maybe what she showed Thor was some kind of vision involving both Loki and Heimdall. Either way, it’s interesting to know that two of the Thor side’s most well-liked characters will be showing up in the crossover film.

The new film hits theaters on May 1st, 2015. For more news on Age of Ultron as it develops, be sure to keep an eye on GeekNation!
