Fandango’s Movie Clips trailer channel has been kind enough to release the trailer for the Olympus Has Fallen sequel London Has Fallen. And if you haven’t guessed by now, lot’s of ‘splosions and stuff will go down, hard, in London this time around!
Gerard Butler is returning as secret service agent Mike Banning who now has to save not only the president (again) but also, every single world leader who has ended up in London to attend the funeral of the Prime Minister. It’s Die Hard: Big Ben! But with secret service agents! Check it out:
Tongue and cheekiness aside, I was really surprised by how much I enjoyed the original Olympus Has Fallen. Out of two ‘Die Hard at the White House’ movies, Olympus was the superior movie – while White House Down starring Jamie Foxx and Channing Tatum missed the marked completely… No sequel for you, White House Down!
Here’s the official synopsis:
The sequel to the worldwide smash hit “Olympus Has Fallen,” a non-stop, suspenseful action thriller that delivers high-octane excitement through a heightened sense of authenticity. The visceral intensity springs from a timely premise: after the British Prime Minister passes away, his funeral becomes a target of a terrorist organization to destroy some of the world’s most powerful leaders, devastate the British capital, and unleash a terrifying vision of the future. The only hope of stopping it rests on the shoulders of the President of the United States (Aaron Eckhart) and his formidable Secret Service head (Gerard Butler), and an English MI-6 agent (Charlotte Riley) who rightly trusts no one. Morgan Freeman also stars as the Vice President of the United States.
Here with London Has Fallen, we are getting, well, more of the same. Lot’s of explosions, terrorists and large, iconic buildings going boom. The usual stuff. But if it can retain the level of charm seen in the last movie, whereby it doesn’t take itself too seriously while delivering on some pretty nifty action pieces, then I’m sure we will have another fun, action romp in the cinema.
London Has Fallen stars Gerard Butler, Aaron Eckhart, Morgan Freeman, Alon Moni Aboutboul, Angela Bassett, Robert Forster, Jackie Earle Haley, Melissa Leo, Radha Mitchell, Sean O’Bryan, Charlotte Riley and Waleed Zuaiter. The film hits theatres theaters March 4, 2016.
