Following the opening of the new Diagon Alley attraction at Universal Studios in Orlando, Florida, there’s even more good stuff in store for Harry Potter fans who have been craving a return to the wizarding world.

It’s been seven years since Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows was published, and just three years since the final film from Warner Bros. Pictures hit the big screen, but Potterheads can never have enough (that’s why the studio has Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them on the way). So we’re happy to report that J.K. Rowling has delivered a follow-up to the final chapter in her boy wizard series on the Pottermore website.

No, it’s not another book. And it’s not even another chapter. Instead, the 1500 word piece is an article covering the Quidditch World Cup, written in the voice of annoying gossip columnist Rita Skeeter, a most prominent figure during the Triwizard Tournament in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, which was when the Quidditch World Cup was last mentioned.

However, the good news is that the article does contain some great moments looking at Harry Potter, Ron Weasley, Hermione Granger, and some of the other familiar faces from the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.

We’ve seen our lead trio aged on the big screen in the epilogue that was adapted from the books, but this update from Skeeter actually explains details about our heroes and their friends before that day, which was said to be 19 years after the events of The Deathly Hallows. But let’s get down to some of the details revealed in the article.

At 34 years old, Harry is showing signs of aging with threads of silver in his jet black hair, but he now has “a nasty cut over his right cheekbone,” likely a result from working as an Auror for the Ministry of Magic. Meanwhile, his wife Ginny has been away from home for awhile as she’s been tasked with covering the Qidditch World Cup for The Daily Prophet. However, it sounds like they might get some family time together at the wizarding sporting event since Harry brought their sons James and Albus to the games, where they were introduced to Bulgarian seeker Viktor Krum, with whom Harry became friends after surviving the Triwizard Tournament.

There’s also some details on Ron and Hermione as well. The Weasley patriarch is also showing some signs of aging with his ginger hair thinning. Or maybe some of it has been burned away, because Ron left his job as an Auror after two years in order to help twin brothers Fred and George run Weasleys’ Wizarding Wheezes. Meanwhile, Hermione is climbing the ladder at the Ministry of Magic, where she has been named Deputy Head of the Department of Magical Law Enforcement, with the promise of even more promotion.

There are some other fun details about Neville Longbottom being married to Hannah Abbott and becoming an Herbology professor at Hogwarts, along with Luna Lovegood being married to Rolf Scamander (grandson of Newt Scamander, author and main character of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them) with twin sons in their care. There’s also more romance brewing between Teddy Lupin, son of Remus Lupin and Nymphadora Tonks, and Victoire Weasley (daughter of Bill Weasley and Fleur Delacour).

If you want to read the full article, you’ll have to register at Pottermore for that and even more Harry Potter content as delegated by J.K. Rowling herself. In fact, the article also points out that Rita’s next book, Dumbledore’s Army: The Dark Side of the Demob, “will be available from Flourish and Blotts on July 31st.” So maybe there will be some excerpts from that book posted online?

Either way, with the wizarding world staying alive and kicking with a new film franchise, scripted by Rowling herself, you can bet there are probably more updates to the Harry Potter universe coming soon, so stay tuned, Potterheads.
