Last week, Marvel fans experienced a pleasant, unexpected side effect of James Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy franchise being packed to the brim with such iconic and beloved 70s and 80s rock music, when Aerosmith frontman, Steven Tyler, revealed that he wanted a role in the franchise’s third installment. He even went so far as to call out Gunn himself when talking about it.

Turns out, when one of the more iconic rock stars of all time says that he wants to be in a movie made by you as well, it won’t take that long to get a response.

During a recent Facebook Live Q&A, Gunn responded to Tyler’s comments with the following:

“Yes, I did hear that Steven Tyler wants to be in Guardians of the Galaxy. He gave me a shout-out the other day in an interview. He said, ‘James Gunn are you listening?’ The answer is: Steven, yes I am listening. And I’m a big fan of Steven Tyler’s. I would have the pleasure of directing his daughter Liv in a movie [2010's Super] in which she was fantastic, and I met him for a few seconds at a screening of that movie. He’s a cool guy. And, of course I would love to work with Steven Tyler sometime.”

The filmmaker also added on Twitter:

As Gunn states in the tweet above now, it should be noted that the filmmaker still isn’t confirmed or attached to be directing the third installment in the Guardians of the Galaxy franchise, and the film isn’t even confirmed to be happening yet either (though let’s face it, we all know it’s going to happen).

However, if and when it does, and depending on who’s behind the helm of it when it’s filming, I wouldn’t be surprised if we end up seeing Tyler appear at some point during its run time.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is set to hit theatres on May 5th, 2017.
