‘Justifed’ Star Walton Goggins to Guest Star in ‘Community’ Season 5

By September 5, 2013

Walton Goggins

Though series creator Dan Harmon is coming back, we’re still not sure what to expect from the fifth season of “Community.” Series regular Donald Glover is only appearing in five of the scheduled 13 episodes so he can focus more on his music career and a new TV series on FX that he’s writing, producing and starring in (which takes place in the Atlanta music scene), and we’re not sure if the show can recover after a dodgy fourth season. But maybe some strategic guest stars can help.

TV Guide has learned that “Justified” and Django Unchained star Walton Goggins will guest star in an episode from the upcoming fifth season as a character named Mr. Stone. He’s described as a mysterious and emotionless man that our favorite study group encounters and confronts the gang with “a dangerous accusation, a tantalizing offer and a devious plan that will change the group forever.” This devious character joins another tough guy guest star this season as “Breaking Bad” cast member Jonathan Banks is also appearing in several episodes this season.

The episode will shoot next week, but we’re not sure when in the season line-up it will air. In fact, the series doesn’t even have a return date on NBC yet. The fourth season didn’t return until February this year after the network beat around the bush bringing it back after production woes and whatnot. For a better idea of what to expect this season, check out our Comic-Con panel recap.

But since the show has made it this far, the series has a syndication deal that begins this fall on Monday, September 16th on local TV stations all over the country. The series also joins the Comedy Central schedule with a five-hour marathon on Sunday, September 15th at 12pm ET. Then the show will air on the cable network in four-episode blocks on Fridays at 9/8c starting September 20th. Go Greendale Human Beings!
