At this point, if you made a bet that Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens would be the biggest film of all time, you’d probably feel pretty safe doing it. Considering the amount of coverage and palpable anticipation there is leading up to the film’s release in a few months, as well as the consistent stream of new images and information that keeps coming out of Disney and Lucasfilm’s camps, there’s no denying that The Force Awakens is going to set the world on fire.
There have already been announcements regarding some of the toys and merchandise that fans can look forward to seeing on the shelves in a few months, but aside from companies like LEGO, there hasn’t been much news yet regarding some of the other marketing campaigns fan can look forward to.
Which is why the new press release from Lucasfilm earlier today, really shouldn’t come as much of a surprise. The studio has announced new partnerships with seven different brands in promotion for The Force Awakens. The companies include Covergirl & Max Factor, Duracell, General Mills, FCA US, HP, Subway, and Verizon, with each brand working on new, custom creative campaigns for the film.
Lynwen Brennan, the Lucasfilm General Manager commented on the news with the following:
“We are thrilled to be working with such a stellar roster of promotional partners. The ‘Star Wars’ brand has endured over the years, across generational audiences because it connects with people in a very special way. Our partners have all delivered original, stand-out campaigns that capture the familiar fun and excitement of our galaxy far, far away that we hope will delight fans as they get ready to experience ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens.’”
When it comes to promotional and marketing campaigns for movies, I don’t think anyone has done a better job promoting their film than J.J. Abrams and co. have for The Force Awakens. Everything that has been released from the movie so far, has told us just enough about it, without revealing too much at the same time. It’s been calculated and consistent throughout the past year, and the fact that they’re partnering with all these companies just means that Lucasfilm is planning on giving fans more than enough leading up to the movie.
Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens is set to hit theaters nationwide on December 18th!
