Man Shoots Girlfriend After Argument About “The Walking Dead”

By December 5, 2012

Shots fired, LITERALLY.

See this guy? He really, REALLY likes The Walking Dead.

So much so that he shot his girlfriend this last weekend during an argument about said show.

Early Monday morning, Jared Gurman, 26, shot his girlfriend with a .22-caliber rifle at his Williston Park (Long Island, NY) home; piercing her lung, shattered a rib and pierced her diaphragm in the process.

The argument? Whether or not a “military mishap” could occur on the show and release some sort of virus that could cause even more damage.

I sh*t you not.

According to Nassau County Detective Lt. Raymond Cote, Gurman “felt very adamant there could be a military mishap that would result in some sort of virus being released that could cause a terrible thing to happen.”

Gurman was out with his girlfriend of 3 1/2 years when he expressed this sentiment and the couple began to argue to the point that she decided she wasn’t staying the night and dropped him off at home.  After dropping him off, he continued the argument via text message; each message more “angry and bitter” than the last that the girlfriend decided she better go and check on him.

When she returned to Gurman’s house at 2:30 in the morning, Gurman was outside the door brandishing a .22 rifle. As she tried to calm him down while walking up his steps, he fired a round into her back.  *For those of you not familiar with ammunition, a .22 bullet is so small with little to no firepower that once it enters the body it doesn’t have enough power to exit, so it just bounces around like a pinball and can cause quite a bit of damage.

After pleading with Gurman for help, he brought her to the hospital and initially lied to police claiming the shooting was “accidental” but later told the truth.

Nassau County police have Gurman charged with attempted murder.

People be crazy.
