Considering we still haven’t even finished all of the shows for its phase one lineup, it’s almost shocking how many rumors and speculation has been put into what shows Marvel and Netflix may make for the second phase of their Defenders lineup, after Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, and the already-announced Punisher standalone series.

Names that have been thrown into the mix include Moon Knight and Ghost Rider, though the latter’s addition to Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. practically disproves that theory.

However, a new report from Bleeding Cool suggests that Marvel has just wrapped production on four pilot shorts intended to be considered for Netflix in the future. While the report doesn’t specify who all of these series could be, it does say that one of them is White Tiger, a character not previously rumored by fans, though her inclusion isn’t all that surprising considering her history with characters like Daredevil, Iron Fist, and Luke Cage in the comics.

The report goes on to state that the show would follow the Angela Del Toro iteration of the character, an ex-FBI agent, who’s uncle was the original White Tiger and is born and bred in the Bronx, fitting in with The Defenders New York street settings. If this rumor is true, then this would also be the first hispanic female-led superhero series from the studio.

Now, make sure to take all of this with a large grain of salt for the time being, since I feel like we would have already known if Marvel was shooting pilot shorts for possible series already However, considering the possibility that this is true, White Tiger would certainly be an interesting, though logical addition to The Defenders lineup, and would be an understandable next step after the introduction of Danny Rand/Iron Fist next year.

With Luke Cage set to premiere at the end of next month though, and the first official Defenders teaser released at SDCC last month, it’s possible the studio is starting to heavily consider/plan their future on the streaming platform after the mini-series team up. Whether or not that includes Angela Del Toro though, will have to wait to be seen.
