Marvel Releases a ‘Captain America: Civil War’ Featurette

By December 7, 2015

Entertainment Weekly obviously has a great relationship with Disney as they are almost always the first outlet granted access to the behind the scenes stories, images and, in this case, a behind the scenes featurette detailing what their Phase Three plans are along with a few special looks at Civil War and the action therein.

Tomorrow, Marvel Studios will release its complete Phase Two collection on Blu-Ray and in those releases come the special looks at concept art and video that previews Phase Three. A modified sample of the video is below:

What I dig immediately, aside from the knowledge that the filmmakers, like the Russo Brothers and, naturally, Kevin Feige, are continuing to make smart choices when it comes to telling their stories. That can be as simple as a casting choice or the appointment of a new, untested director (like the Russo Bros.) because their vision is unmatched. When Winter Soldier premiered to immediate critical praise, followed by boffo box office, it’s no wonder they are now heading the charge with Civil War and then, Infinity War Parts 1 and 2. I love seeing the two talk so passionately alongside clips of mastermind Kevin Feige. But what I love even more is the quick glimpse of Cap and Iron Man going to blows in some sort of conference room.

For me, the small tease of action, creative in its execution, reiterates the fact that we are in good hands with the Russo Bros. As I am always devouring behind the scenes footage when it comes to blockbusters like this, I’m excited to dive in to a number of featurettes coming with the newly released package. Guess I’m going to have to ‘double dip’ and buy the new pack if  want access to all the good stuff.

From EW in regards to the set:

The Phase Two set includes Iron Man 3, Thor: The Dark World, Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Guardians of the Galaxy, Avengers: Age of Ultron, and Ant-Man. The discs are assembled into a display container shaped like the Morag Orb, the object containing the fabled Power Stone, which Chris Pratt’s Star-Lord stole in Guardians of the Galaxy.

So for everyone out there in the Nation, who’s picking this bad boy up tomorrow? Who has it on their Christmas list? It’s going to be exciting stuff pouring through the new featurettes looking for glimpses of Civil War and even Dr. Strange. With two, solid Phases behind them, I’m thrilled to see what Marvel has in store for Three.
