“Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” hasn’t exactly been the smashing success I’m sure the studio was hoping for when they conceived of the idea to bleed the Marvel Cinematic Universe over onto the small screen. It’s a great concept, and it has some proven talent behind the scenes, but the show just hasn’t become that zeitgeist-y hit Kevin Feige, Jeph Loeb, Joss Whedon, and the rest of the Marvel head honchos likely wanted it to be. Part of that has to do with the storytelling, part of it has to do with the much smaller scope of the series, and part of it probably has to do with the fact that they just haven’t brought in many actors from the Marvel films to interact with the characters from the show. Well, it looks like at least one of those problems is being addressed head on.
Word from the Television Critics Association (via ScreenCrush) is that Jaimie Alexander’s Lady Sif character from the Thor films is making her way to Earth for an appearance on an upcoming episode of the series. The fan favorite will drop by in the season’s 15th episode “with a very specific mission.” Wonder what that could be? Fans of the show, hit us up in the comments and let us know if you’re excited about Sif’s upcoming appearance! “Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” returns on February 4th, with an episode that features a cameo by Stan Lee.
Also brewing in the Marvel TV world is “Agent Carter,” a show based on the One-Shot which featured Hayley Atwell as Captain America’s love interest and a badass in her own right. We’ve written about this potential series a couple of times before, and now it seems that the show is one step closer to a reality. Deadline reports that Tara Butters and Michele Fazekas – the duo that created the short-lived-but-pretty-funny CW series “Reaper” – have boarded the project as writers and executive producers. Butters and Fazekas have an overall deal set up at ABC Studios, so it makes a good amount of sense that they’d stay in house to work on this series. Marvel, as usual, refuses to confirm anything, so for now we’ll just have to keep hoping that “Agent Carter” A) becomes a show soon, and B) is better than “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” when it finally hits the air.
