Thanks to YouTube and other video sharing sites, reaction videos are becoming more and more prevalent and a great way to see how other people reacted to the same video you’ve either seen or pique your curiousity enough to check out the source of the reaction.
See these guys? I’ll get to them in a minute…
The phenomenon of the reaction video blew up with the infamous “2 Girls 1 Cup” (no, I will NOT link or post it – you wanna see it, find it your dang self) where viewers filmed their reactions while watching the most disgusting (and mostly fake) video ever unleashed.
Since then, there’s been some really fun reaction videos hitting the internets and I’ve pulled a couple of my recently released faves.
After years of begging, gamers’ wishes FINALLY came true a couple weeks ago when it was revealed at E3 that perennial favorite Mega Man and his dog Rush is joining Nintendo exclusive title Super Smash Bros 4 (3DS, Wii U) as a playable character.
Admittedly, I was pretty excited to learn this news but not nearly as excited as these four gents, who hit octaves that would make any soprano singer jealous.
NOTE: I wouldn’t wear headphones for this (unless you want to have your eardrums explode) but if you are, turn down the volume to half, hahaha.
Feel free to watch on repeat, I know I did…never stops being funny.
The other slate of reaction videos making the rounds were of course from “Game Of Thrones” second to last episode of the season titled “The Rains of Castamere” which depicted the infamous Red Wedding. Those who’d read the books and knew exactly what was about to occur decided to stealth film their friends/significant others’ reactions to the carnage that was due to take place.
Luckily for us, YouTuber Horrorcirdan took eighteen of the best ones out there and compiled into a handy dandy video just for us!
Beware of spoilers for “Game of Thrones” and keep in mind this video is NSFW for language!
When Game Of Thrones author George R.R. Martin appeared on Conan following the shocking episode, Coco compiled the best reactions to show Martin.
But this was this video that got me RIGHT in the feels…
While watching GOT with his mom and sister via FaceTime, YouTuber Harvey Smith secretly recorded their reactions to the events…and the mom (in red) reacted in a way only a mother could.
(Skip ahead to 2:49 and watch from there)
Don’t feel bad if you cried…I totally did.
Even more interesting than the reaction videos are creative fake reaction videos like the one conceived/directed by Sandeep Parikh (“The Guild”/”Legend Of Neil”) and stars Parikh alongside fellow webseries/VO actors Amy Okuda (“The Guild”), Brendan Bradley (“Video Game Reunion”), Tara Platt (“Shelf Life: The Series”, “Bleach”, “Naruto: Shippuden”) and her husband Yuri Lowenthal (“Shelf Life: The Series”, “Ben 10”, Saints Row The 3rd, “Naruto: Shippuden”).
Slightly NSFW for language.
“Why do we watch this show?!”
So whether you’re a fan of filming or watching reaction videos, the trend isn’t gonna go away anytime soon…so keep ’em coming, gang!
