Misty Knight Confirmed to Return in ‘The Defenders’

By September 29, 2016

Tomorrow (or tonight for all of you night owls out there), Netflix is going to be releasing the full first season of Marvel’s Luke Cage for all of us to enjoy in its wicked cool, hip hop-infused glory. Already, the series has been on the receiving end of incredible critical appraise and applause from fans, with many calling it the best series from Marvel and Netflix’s collaboration to date, and considering the quality of both Jessica Jones and Daredevil – that’s saying something.

One of the notable new additions to the MCU comes in the first season of Luke Cage as well, with Simone Missick’s Misty Knight, a heroine from the comics that I don’t think many fans ever thought they’d actually see receive an onscreen adaptation.

So far, Missick has been receiving praise for her turn as the character as well, and as you can probably imagine, it doesn’t look like Luke Cage is the only Netflix series we’ll be seeing her in. While speaking with TheWrap, Missick herself confirmed that she will in fact be reprising her role as Knight in The Defenders:

“I believe I’m safe to say that I will be on ‘The Defenders. Spoiler alert! If I lose my job because of this interview, sorry! I was supposed to be on ‘The Defenders,’ until I got fired.”

So far, from everything we can tell, it doesn’t look like Misty Knight will be sporting her iconic bionic arm in Luke Cage when we meet her, and at least for a majority of the series itself. Considering Marvel’s penchant for developing heroes over a specific length of time though, and letting them grow into their comic book counterparts, I’d say that it’s entirely possible we could see Knight looking more like her comic book self, when we see her in Defenders.

Luke Cage is set to premiere on Netflix on September 30th.
